Day 3 : Bromo - Savannah - Pasir Berbisik

(p/s : caption above pictures)

Watching sunrise @ Penanjakan 2
We woke up at 3 & went to Penanjakan 2 sunrise viewplace by jeep at 4. Had to hike up before we reached the place. It was dark, raining again & eventually no sunset was seen. I was heartbroken for a moment, guess we all did :p Nahh, we just came on the wrong season. Local people suggested that we come from June - August for the best sunrise. That's when a whole lot more people esp Aussies (holiday season in Australia) will flood the place like crazy. Usually, this will be the first thing you would do whenever you start your Bromo journey. Penanjakan 1 was not open to the public during rainy season. My brothers arrived first since they are pretty fit while the rest of us struggling to breathe to even get there, haha.

The only sunrise we managed to see

Horse riding service
These local people would stick to your side as soon as you start to hike with their horses to make you pay for the service. Some of them even came up with lies saying that the hike distance would take about 2km,
when it's not that far from the drop point. It's really a waste to spend your money on something like this when you can actually walk slowly. I mean, just take your time aite.

Here's an interesting story. Since my chubby sister struggled with the hike the most, she breathed heavily ; hahuhahuha & all the horse-riding service guy crowds around her, hahaha.

Dropping point to Bromo
The second venue is  Bromo. Very sandy around here like desert & can clearly feel like it when the sands are dry. Sands gets dark when they are wet. As soon when we came outside our jeep, horse-guys start sticking to us again, oh well. Ok, this place seems reasonable to ride by horse because of long distance walk, but we decided to just walk, slowly. The wet sands made walking even easier.

A horse went on rampage and dropped a guy that rode on the horse. It was frightening & walking seems to made more sense (insecure, lol).

Breakfast
Yup, had our breakfast here but i dont remember the name of the dish. It's a bowl of hot soup with maggi mee & bunch of dumplings goodness in it. It was really good & perfect with the weather condition. Brrr im hungry now.

Start of the hike
See the mistified mountain back there? Yeah, that's where we were heading. So we took our time~

Horse pit stop
You'll have to hike the stairs to reach the top, which no horse would do.

The stairs

Top of Bromo
After the long & tiring hike, we reached the top. The winds blew the gaseous from the crater + rain : masks on. Limited space up here & had to be extra careful since can see everything below lol.
Seriously, rain made it worse up here. Still, it was worth it.

Bromo Crater

By the time we got here, it was sunny & you can see the green surroundings which was absolutely beautiful despite the clouds.

Savannah
Apologize for the weird looking panorama. This is the 3rd venue of our Bromo expedition. Can't really see the overall view since the clouds are hiding it from us. I believe it's really beautiful with the blue skies on.

Whispering Sands a.ka Pasir Berbisik
No, not when the sands are wet. Yes, when it's dry you can actually hear the sound of the sands being blow by the winds, thus Pasir Berbisik. Our last venue with the the jeep tour.

Behind the scene much? Lol
I accidently saw a random guy peed from this rock im standing on *facepalm

Took few hours off after the last venue, dozed off for awhile, packed stuffs & checked out from the hotel. Leaved our stuffs at the hotel & roaming around the village while waiting for the driver to arrive.

Local delicacies menu example
Nasi rawon = rice with meats
Gule kambeng = rice with gulai kambing
Es jeruk =  iced orange juice

Ferry ride to Bali
Bye Bromo! Went back to the bus station at evening via driver & rode a bus van to Bali. My parents planned to ride the bus at first but journey by bus would take 10 hours, so going by van cut the period to 7 hours. Why so long right? The only highway i witnessed was when we headed towards Probolinggo. Had to travel by village roads and so that the driver could easily passed all the lorries. Ferry ride took about 1 hour since it's the kind of ferry that lifts vehicles too. Another 2 hours to get to Kuta that made up the total 7 hours. Eventually, we all spent the night inside the bus van. Thus, remark the end of day 3.
